About Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is one of the most common cosmetic procedures in the United States. It is a convenient method for the long-term reduction or removal of unwanted hair on the face and/or body. This treatment typically leaves the skin looking and feeling smoother while providing longer-lasting results compared to other options for hair removal. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Caruth at Plano Aesthetics in Plano, TX performs safe and effective laser hair removal treatments for both men and women in common areas such as the arms, back, legs, face, armpits, and intimate areas.

"I really enjoy Dr. Caruth. He is funny and tells it like it is which is why I like his honesty. His staff are also very nice people and accommodating. The office is also very nice. I would definitely recommend. Although my results are not apparent at this time, I have faith that Dr. Caruth will get me where I want to be or damn close to it."- C.P. / Google / Sep 12, 2020
"I have been seeing Dr. Caruth for over 10 years and absolutely love him and his office! He spends a lot of time in the consultation and he very easy to talk to. Dr. Caruth does his own Botox and filler injections which I prefer to having an aesthetician for these injections. Before my son’s wedding, I had a neck lift procedure and I was very happy with the results. I have referred three of my friends for the same procedure and all have been very pleased with the outcome."- D.S. / Google / Mar 03, 2020
Laser hair removal is a relatively gentle (when compared to waxing) procedure that is effective for most individuals. During your consultation, you will go over your needs, concerns, and goals to help determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. Ideal patients for laser hair removal:
- Have unwanted facial or body hair
- Are tired of other hair removal techniques (shaving, waxing, depilatory creams, bleaching)
- Have dark hair and light skin
- Are in overall, good health
At your appointment, you will be asked to relax in one of our treatment rooms as the needed areas of your skin are cleaned to remove dirt, oil, and lotions. During laser hair removal, a technician will slightly stretch the skin to provide a direct path between the laser and the hair follicle root. The Diolaze laser beam will target and destroy the hair follicle, preventing it from growing back. On average, you will need 3 – 5 sessions over a period of 3 – 4 weeks to achieve your best results. Your treatments will be spaced out in order to allow the treated areas time to recover. This also allows time for hair follicles that were in the dormant phase of growth to cycle into the active growth phase so they can be treated. The specialized laser hair removing technology we use at Plano Aesthetics is able to target the hair follicle alone, preserving the skin in the treatment area.
What to Expect
While laser hair removal is relatively gentle in nature, your skin may feel like it has a slight sunburn due to the use of lasers. When you leave our office, you will be free to resume your daily activities, but you should refrain from exercise or sun exposure for a period of 24 hours to let the treated areas heal. When you get home after your session, we recommend anti-inflammatory creams or cold packs to alleviate any discomfort.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does laser hair removal by Diolaze cost?
The cost of laser hair removal depends on the size and location of the area being treated. Other factors can include the thickness of the hair, the hair color, and your desired result. During your consultation at Plano Aesthetics, Dr. Caruth will determine how many sessions will be needed and then help you understand your out-of-pocket costs.
Is the treatment actually permanent?
Laser hair removal is considered a semi-permanent solution for hair reduction. However, each person is very different, so we do not promise complete hair removal. Approximately 50% or more of our laser hair removal patients experience long-term hair removal. Maintenance sessions are sometimes necessary to maintain results.
Do I need to prepare my skin before treatment?
For six weeks prior to your appointment, you cannot pluck or wax the areas that will be treated by Diolaze. You should also avoid tanning the area for four weeks prior to treatment. Self-tanning products should be discontinued for two weeks prior to your laser hair removal sessions.
How do I care for my skin after my sessions?
You should protect your skin with sunscreen during and for six weeks following your hair removal sessions. We also avoid recommending scented lotions or anything that could irritate the treatment area for about seven days after your laser hair removal appointment.
Will the procedure be painful?
While laser hair removal is not completely painless, the discomfort associated is usually very tolerable. Diolaze includes a new, cooling technology that helps reduce pain.
