About Cellulite Therapy
No matter how fit and healthy you are, unfortunately there is nothing you can do to prevent or eliminate cellulite on your own. The fibrous tissue forms under the skin, most commonly around the hips, thighs, and stomach, and creates a lumpy, dimpled appearance. Dr. Jeffrey Caruth, a cosmetic surgeon and the founder of Plano Aesthetics, is proud to offer multiple options for the treatment of cellulite. Cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), each of our cellulite treatment options can improve the appearance of cellulite for extended periods of time. By targeting the fatty tissue often found in the thighs and buttocks with one of these minimally invasive procedures, Dr. Caruth can help you attain smoother skin in just a few days. Years ago, cellulite was nearly impossible to successfully treat, but now you can enjoy exciting, tangible results from cellulite therapy at Plano Aesthetics.
Cellulite Therapy Options
Cellulaze – A minimally invasive laser procedure, Cellulaze stimulates the production of collagen beneath the surface of your skin to attack the structure of cellulite. The procedure yields long-lasting results in as few as one short treatment session, but does involve very small incisions and a brief recovery period.
CelluTite – This specialized applicator is combined with the innovative, minimally invasive BodyTite technology to substantially improve the appearance of cellulite. Radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL) technology helps to provide a long term solution for moderate to severe lumpy deposits of subcutaneous fat found on the thighs and buttocks.
Cellulite Therapy Ideal Candidates
Cellulite therapy is safe and effective for most patients at Plano Aesthetics. However, you may not qualify if you have an infection, loose skin, diabetes, or varicose veins. You should also not undergo cellulite therapy if you are pregnant or taking blood thinners. The best candidates for minimally invasive cellulite therapy:
- Are at a healthy, stable weight
- Have cellulite in their stomach, hips, buttocks, or legs
- Have good skin tone
Cellulite Therapy Procedure Technique
During your consultation, Dr. Caruth will help you choose which form of cellulite therapy is most likely to help you achieve your aesthetic goals. Your treatment plan will be created at that time. On the day of your first session, you will be asked to lay down comfortably in one of our minor procedure rooms where your treatment area(s) will be prepped. For Cellulaze and CelluTite treatments, Dr. Caruth will mark your treatment areas and administer local anesthesia to numb them. Next, he will create very small incisions, through which he will insert the laser fibers and cannulas that will be used to smooth out lumps and bumps and break down fat. Patients often notice a bit of swelling, bruising, and discomfort following these sessions and should return home to rest for the remainder of the day and possibly the next.
What to Expect with Cellulite Therapy
After Cellulaze or CelluTite, you can expect bruising, swelling, and tenderness. These side effects are not typically severe and will subside in a matter of days or weeks. In most circumstances, you will be able to return to your normal routine the day following your procedure. However, we advise you to refrain from vigorous exercise for a few days to allow the treatment area the opportunity to heal. Following these treatments, you may see visible results within just three days, with improvement and peak results in the weeks and months that follow. Those who maintain a healthy weight will yield the longest-lasting results, but the procedure can be safely repeated as needed.
Cellulite Therapy Frequently Asked Questions
How much does cellulite therapy cost?
The cost of your treatment will depend on the technology used, the size of the target area(s), and the number of areas being treated. During your consultation with Dr. Caruth, he can better help you understand costs after discussing your ultimate aesthetic goals and creating a customized treatment plan.
What is cellulite?
Cellulite is a common but unsightly dimpled flesh that often appears on the thighs, hips, buttocks, and stomachs of women, though men are occasionally affected as well. The cause is still not understood, but many believe it is fat that has become swollen with toxins, creating ripples on the surface of the skin. This could be the result of genetics, thin skin, and aging.
How long will treatments last?
Most of our cellulite therapy treatments take only 30 – 60 minutes to complete. However, this could vary according to the technology used and the size and number of areas being treated. For our minimally invasive treatments, you may only need one treatment session to see your desired result, while noninvasive solutions may require many treatments.
Will I have continuous improvements after cellulite therapy treatments?
As our cellulite therapy treatments all incorporate the use of radiofrequency or laser energy, collagen production will be stimulated during treatment, leading to increased results and prolonged smoothness long after the session has ended.
