Cosmetic Surgery with Your Own Fat+Cells
Cosmetic Surgery, using your own fat tissue and stem and regenerative cells, also called Cell Enriched Cosmetic Surgery, is one of several options and one of the newest to be made available to patients in Europe.
What makes Cell Enriched Cosmetic Surgery unique is that it allows you to use your fat tissue and your naturally occurring, fat-derived stem and regenerative cells to enhance areas on your face or body. This new, but tested procedure is a viable option if you want to sculpt your body naturally without artificial implants.
PureGraft™ 250/PURE System
PureGraft™ is a revolutionary technology developed by Cytori Therapeutics for the preparation of fat grafts in a closed, sterile field. With advanced filtering capabilities, PureGraft™ selectively washes the lipoaspirate and drains the tumescent fluid, free lipid and debris in less than 15 minutes, streamlining the graft preparation process. With no mechanical equipment, the PureGraft™ System is easy to operate and allows the physician to control hydration of the graft. Compared to conventional graft preparation techniques, the PureGraft™ System has been designed to prepare grafts quicker and to process larger volumes (50-250 mL).
The PureGraft™250/PURE System is indicated for use in the harvesting, filtering and transferring of autologous fat tissue for reinjecting back into the same patient for aesthetic body contouring. The PureGraft™250/PURE System includes the PureGraft™ 250/PURE Consumable Set, the PureGraft™250/CK Convenience Kit and the PureGraft™550/IS Instrument Set.

- Controlled– The physician can control the hydration of the graft by varying the drain times and number of wash cycles.
- Space-saving – No mechanical equipment needed.
Why Fat+Cells?
By taking your fat (or as it is termed medically, adipose) from areas on your body, cell-enriched cosmetic surgical procedures can provide overall shaping for your body, producing a well-proportioned physique to support your self-confidence and a healthy body image.
Using only natural components of your own body poses no risk of rejection.
The implanted fat becomes part of your body, continually changing as your body naturally ages and evolves. The use of stem and regenerative cells has important implications for medical practice: During liposuction, the fat is cut off from the blood supply that keeps it alive. Upon transplantation into the desired area, new blood vessels need to form in order for the transplanted graft to ge the required oxygen and other nutrients that are essential for its survival. Adipose-derived stem and regenerative cells are believed to promote the creation and maintenance of new blood vessels, hence allowing the transplanted graft to successfully integrate with the surrounding tissue and not be reabsorbed by the body. High reabsorption rates of the patients’ own fat have made traditional fat grafting less than ideal. Fat reabsorption may require repeat procedures or may even produce asymmetry if, for example, one side of the breast absorbs more than the other.
Clinical experience to date has consistently shown that the results in patients who received cell-enriched fat are durable and long-lasting, although no results can be 100% guaranteed.

What are the Key Steps Involved in CellEnriched Cosmetic Surgery?
1. The surgery may be performed under either local (with or without sedation) or general anesthesia. It is important to work with your doctor in advance to determine what the best choice is for you and your medical team.
2. Liposuction is performed to remove an amount of your own excess body fat, usually from your stomach, hips or thighs. This part of the procedure usually lasts one hour, but ultimately depends on the the amount of fat to be removed.
3. Even before the liposuction is finished CellEnriched Cosmetic Surgery technology is used to process a portion of the tissue and to extract and concentrate the stem and regenerative cells naturally occurring in fat tissue. The remainder of the extracted tissue is specially washed to remove cell fragments and other impurities.
4. The concentrated stem and regenerative cells are then combined with the washed fat to create a cell-enriched fat graft, which the doctor carefully injects into the desired area of the body or face.
5. On average, the entire procedure lasts between 3 and 4 hours.
