AWAKE Breast Augmentation
Dr. Caruth has provided Awake Breast Augmentation for over 4 years in his Plano office. This procedure provides a great option for women wanting saline or silicone implants without the need for general anesthesia. Dr. Caruth performs the augmentation under local anesthesia which allows the patient to participate in selection of implant size. Some patients desire a mild sedative prior to procedure for anxiety. Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the procedure.
During the procedure, the patient is allowed to view the breasts after placement of a temporary sizer. The sizers can be inflated or deflated as needed. Dr. Caruth will guide the patient regarding appropriate fit and have the ultimate decision based on several factors. Patients may return home soon after the procedure to rest for several days.
